New courier delivery jobs and the tech advantage
The first thing old school couriers did, was check the wall maps. This was before the hand-held super computer (smartphones) took things to a new level. Furthermore, it was common to see pencils and scraps of paper. Many couriers used these to write down street names. Because wall maps attached to the wall. Glove compartment sized versions were available for a buck ninety nine at the local welcome center. However, most couriers preferred the little pencil and paper method.
It wasn’t necessary to refold the little piece of paper with the shorthand directions. The glove compartment map, required refolding. There were no instructions on the refold. It was definitely a thing. Once upon a time. Therefore, the courier looked for ways to trim the time it took, to locate a location. Without any kind of GPS, or device to make a call, the courier relied on available clues and natural guides. Natural guides like street signs, landmarks, and the position of the sun, meant a lot.
With this in mind, courier delivery jobs back in the day, were different. Because of the limited resources available to help the courier. But in today’s world, the tools have improved. For example, the handheld super computer. This device alone is an absolute game changer. From real time GPS, to phone calls and texting, the smart phone is the most important tool a courier can have, save the ride.
New Courier Delivery Jobs
The tech advantage was a game changer for the delivery industry. Although, when it began, the delivery scene was not so much an industry. It may be evident one day, that the smartphone helped evolve the at home courier delivery industry. It certainly expedited the growth process. With regard to the courier, and residential delivery completions, respectively.
The new courier delivery jobs of today’s world are all about tech. The advanced technology integrates into most things. For example, connecting the phone to the ride. Or tracking the courier’s location in real time. Furthermore, these are just a few of the possible integrations of the tech advantage. Additionally, the advantage shows when compared to the available tools of yesteryear.
Similarly courier safety has improved with the tech advantage. With a smartphone the courier has access to immediate ways to contact help. Or, for the crew courier, contact home base. Additionally the tech is expanding the types of deliveries a courier can accept. For example, alcohol deliveries. Or a delivery from the arts and crafts store. Not to mention the office supply store for that ink cartridge that will save tomorrow’s presentation at the office. There are many ways the tech has changed the delivery experience.
The Tech Advantage is Real
With the tech advantage, delivery completion times have improved as well. There is less time in tracking wrong locations. The courier is led along by an interactive GPS. Therefore, the exact location of the drop-off, can easily be found. The tech is so seamless the courier barely needs to know the street names. This is an advantage with tech, but not so much without it.
In fact, relying exclusively on technology isn’t the only way to complete a delivery. Likewise, it doesn’t make a delivery any faster than relying on old school technique. However, the advantage of tech is real. Delivery accuracy is a prime example. With this in mind an improved delivery experience is a given. Thanks to the tech advantage. Stay safe out there.
