The late night security delivery and the missing code
Late night, after the final delivery, is a solemn time. There is counting to do, and it is a time of reflection. If the reflection includes a taco, so much the better.
It’s hard to get that taco, because they all just got delivered, somewhere else. However it is good to have another day of completed runs, and that reflection time is important too.
Late night security delivery
Furthermore, the details of the previous deliveries are still fresh on the courier’s mind. The courier can use this time of reflection to improve the next series of runs, in the next shift.
For example writing and recording relevant info such as gas receipts or mileages. Clearing message queues, or closing gps tabs, or putting air in the tires. Or chains on the tires, depending on the location of the courier.
Night Security
All of these things are good for reflection time. Therefore, a quick study on that missing gate code, might also help the next time there is no entry.
The reasons why there is no gate code are varied. However, it is common to pull up to a gated community with a delivery and have no gate code for entry. Many of the call boxes have an index to search the tenants name. In my personal experience one out of six of them work and are up to date. The rest, not so much.
This does leave the courier stranded and holding the bag, so to speak. This is when it gets tricky as to when the completion will be possible. Many gated communities are very well protected by those same gates. Walking a delivery into the neighborhood is impractical, and in some cases, impossible.
missing code
This is when the courier does all that is possible to make contact. Being stuck at the gate is the anti completion of a delivery. However there are times that there is no other choice. Fortunately, it is possible to complete a delivery without ramming those gates!
The apps have a protocol to follow if there is no entry at the gate. It’s possible to leave the delivery and get photo evidence, for confirmation of the delivery. Therefore the courier should exhaust all other means for contact, before taking on the app’s leave it procedure.
There is no denying that a missing code can put a damper on a delivery, however with deliberate thinking and patience, the late night security delivery and the missing code won’t be a hiccup. Stay safe out there.
