It’s all in the hustle

The road isn’t feeling it tonight. Good thing the courier is, and he floors the accelerator pedal. The force of the acceleration presses him back into the seat. 1courier grins. This was the path of zen, the place where destiny and chance intersect. Furthermore, it was fun as hell, and he has a hunch the road will follow along.

This is his third night of working on the east side. Therefore he feels tired of the east side. There was no activity on the north side, so this meant the only choice was the east. Otherwise, he would be sidelined, and stuck at HQ. With this in mind, he decides the east side is pretty good.

Getting stuck at HQ is not a courier’s finest moment. Couriers were meant to be on the move. Moving things from point A to point B. And then sometimes point C and D as well. He checks the m-com link again. It is spot on. Therefore he would have to drive all the way to the top.

It isn’t the drive up that is daunting. The problem comes at the top. Where there is nowhere to turn around. Ordinarily, he would park at the bottom and walk up the steep hill. However he was short on time today. He had made this delivery before. A few times before, actually. Each time was a test of a courier’s driving skill.

In fact, he is already focusing on the delivery after this one. Having a visualized route and plan is half the delivery. 1courier backs down the steep hill. No cameras to use, just old school mirror technique. It’s more than enough as he hits the road again. On to the next.

Although, this one is in an isolated area, the route only needs a slight adjustment. The drop-off location is behind a locked security gate. There is no code, but that doesn’t mean he won’t get in. In fact, he is actually thinking about the one after this one. There is a blocked highway on the next. Furthermore, a detour is inevitable. However, he gains nothing if he loses focus on where he is now.

Without the code he had to be creative. Mission accomplished. Additionally, he decided how he was going to handle the detour on the next. Turns out there is a third way that makes even better sense. It saved miles. He needed to save miles. Every little bit helped. Especially on the next three deliveries after the detour. They are going to different drop-off locations, but are all at the same pickup location.

Tales of the Courier

1courier grins because it can’t get any better than this. Then he grins again because that is not at all true. Later the rain starts, and things get interesting in new and more intense ways. Nevertheless, it’s all in the hustle he thinks, as he arrives for the next pickup.

However, it is not a typical pickup. This is the first thing he thinks of as he sees the package. Furthermore he thinks HQ must be pulling his leg or experiencing a glitch. He gets out of the ride and walks around the package for delivery. This takes a couple of minutes because the package is as large as a house. Additionally it is over two stories tall. Now, 1courier feels a sense of doubt and confusion. Moreover, he is sure the thing will not fit in the trunk.
