In the Spirit to Deliver the Spirits

The summer season is almost officially here. The days are long. They are also hot and getting hotter! The nights are seasonable, and excellent for deliveries. Furthermore, some deliveries are more in the spirit of the season, so to speak.

(Update note: This article was originally published in August 2022. This update is to refresh and remind the new courier about the importance of the rules and requirements for alcohol deliveries.)

Alcohol delivery is a popular offer. Likewise as summer days begin, it will increase in frequency.

So, what is an alcohol delivery, and what sets it apart from the rest? And no, it isn’t a party.

In the Spirit to Deliver the Spirits

Alcohol deliveries are the delivery of spirits, or alcohol for the home consumer. They have advantages and requirements. Furthermore, the courier must participate in this delivery.

There are no, leave at the door, shenanigans with an alcohol delivery. Clearly customer contact is required. The steps to complete an alcohol delivery, are similar. No matter which app the courier is using.

Firstly, ID is required. Valid ID. The courier must see an ID card, and verify it matches the person holding it. Exactly. Of course, this process protects the courier, as much as the merchant.

Next is to scan the ID. Furthermore, the app will detect the barcode, and verify age. Additionally this is done through the app. And it requires that the courier hover the camera over the ID.

If everything is good so far, the final step will be the signature. This is also in-app, and the courier will be prompted to have the customer sign for the delivery. In the app.

Additionally, there will be a couple of confirmation prompts. Once this step is complete, the courier is ready to mark the delivery complete. After, handing over the spirits, of course.

Another part of the alcohol delivery, is noticing if the customer is sober. This is a sticky one. However, common sense can be used to navigate this sticky zone. Carefully. If the customer is too tanked to get to the door, they are not sober.

In my opinion, it’s a great idea to party off the roads, and let the courier do the driving. Stay safe out there.
