How to cash in on the cash delivery
The cash delivery still exists. It is rare, but it still happens. There are also several articles on this site that cover this same topic. The hope is that a more well rounded overall story will evolve. This article is based on experience. Additionally it will cover the elements of how to cash in on the cash delivery.
Cashing in on the delivery isn’t the same as striking it rich. There’s only one type of delivery that can do that. Furthermore, not every delivery is a cash delivery. Once upon a time cash deliveries were common. In fact they were the preferred transaction back in the beginning.
The beginning is relevant because there were less things available, all those years ago. For example the internet and all that raw card processing power. In the old days when there was no internet people relied on a more limited and primitive ordering system. The telephone.
How to cash in on the cash delivery
It was actually named the telephone. It was attached to a wall 97.3% of the time. However it worked, and got the basic details across, so the delivery could happen. All of this was on the honor system. The merchant would front the delivery for cash on delivery.
Furthermore that is the essence of this article. Accepting a cash delivery doesn’t mean the courier will be out of pocket. It actually means the courier may have extra cash on hand. Once there is a delivery completion.
These details are available at the offer screen when the courier first sees the offer. And should look similar to the example pic below this paragraph.
It is important to note that the courier may reject the offer. There are couriers that prefer to handle only non-cash offers. With this in mind and because of changing times, the cash delivery is very rare.
Furthermore the part about returning change is also a sticking point for some couriers. Some couriers just do not carry cash. Consequently, this brings up an important caution. The 100 dollar bill scam. It happens when the courier least expects it. Accepting a cash delivery, opens the gates for it, at the very least.

It is all about the change for the 100 dollar bill. Crew couriers have an added layer of protection in this regard. The merchant handles the details and alerts the courier when there will be a large cash bill to make change for. The solo courier must take on this risk alone.
(Pro tip: It is helpful to look up, or Google, the various ways to spot counterfeit bills. This comes in handy.)
This is not to say that the app doesn’t have support for the courier. For example if there is a large bill to make change for, it will be listed in the delivery details. Somewhere. Accepting a cash delivery with no additional details regarding a large bill upon arrival, is a possible caution for the courier. At the very least the courier should stay alert. Stay safe out there.
