Holiday deliveries, the best time to find the rush

Holiday deliveries, the best time to find the rush

Holiday deliveries are a fun and interesting way to spend a holiday. Indeed, it seems year after year the holiday delivery scene improves. Not only for the customer but also for the courier.

Furthermore, it is important to keep in mind which holiday it is. It is a best practice for the courier to be available during peak delivery times. Or rush windows. However, it is not required.

With this in mind, it is also not a given when the rush will happen. Or even if it will happen. However, this is always true. Therefore, having an idea or rough guesstimate is helpful. Especially on the holidays.

Additionally, it is helpful to have a frame of reference. The one being used here is experience. Both in crew and solo experience. It is the crew experience that is often the most valuable when the courier needs insight on rush events.

This is true particularly when the merchant is a main stream restaurant. For example, a well known pizza shop. It is also true that the trends of that same merchant are similar to other merchants in the same area.

With this in mind, the holiday rush is dependent on which holiday is being celebrated. Major holidays may see significantly different rush hours than minor holidays. Additionally the day of the week matters. For example, Saturday holidays typically mean everyone is off work the next day.

    Holiday Deliveries

Late night rushes are more likely on holidays that fall on the weekend. Just as early deliveries are more possible on weekday holidays. This is a good indicator the rush will come early. Furthermore, weekday dinner rushes are more likely to end early.

With today’s holiday, the early, early rush, will be the one, to be in line for running. Therefore an early start is key. Similarly when the rush is over it is likely done for the evening. (The following day is a work day for most.) A late rush is always possible. However, not as likely. Stay safe out there.
