High mileage delivery and traffic for a ratings challenge
All along the road the traffic hums. It is present most of the time. The best front row seat for a traffic show, is behind the wheel. Not only is it possible to catch the show, but also participate. Similarly, the traffic situation can be gauged by the time of day. Respectively.
With this in mind, it is possible to say that traffic is a heavy factor in delivery. Furthermore, the amount of traffic is proportional to the time of day. For example, the rush hours. Most everyone knows traffic thickens considerably during the rush times. This is helpful information to keep in mind when considering an offer from the queue.
High mileage delivery
Many couriers prefer daytime hours instead of nighttime hours. In fact, there are couriers that will only work daytime deliveries. Likewise those who will only work the graveyard shift. There are similarities with both time-frames.
For example, there are at least two daytime rushes. One of those, is shared with the night. Then, there are two nighttime rushes, and one of those, is shared with the day. It’s the evening rush that can create challenges with ratings. On time arrivals are never more at risk, than with a traffic jam.
Indeed, this is what creates the ratings challenge. The scenario, is an accepted high mileage delivery from the queue. The offer is lucrative, but the distance to be traveled is extreme. Additionally, it is in the middle of a traffic rush hour. Therefore, there will need to be hustle.
As the delivery unfolds, it becomes clear the courier will be late to the drop-off. Furthermore, there may have to be an emergency stop for gas. The delivery is already in delay, and it isn’t half way there yet. This may become a ratings challenge.
Ratings Challenge
This is one possible scenario when combining heavy traffic and high mileage delivery. The courier will benefit by factoring in the time of day and traffic conditions when considering an offer from the delivery queue. It is also smart for the courier to consider if a ding in the ratings will be worth the effort of the delivery. Or the pay.
The difficulty in navigating rush hour traffic, quickly and efficiently, is high. Therefore a slow down will likely be imminent. With this in mind, the high mileage delivery and traffic combined can create a ratings challenge. Almost every time. Stay safe out there.
