Ever do a full days work and then do it over again? Second time through has all that chagrin about doing it twice. Bedtime, and that feeling of accomplishment, is more about breaking even. Drag ass to the sheets and fall into oblivion, time for hide and seek, down the rabbit hole. Maybe spend the whole night there, maybe get back sooner, thanks to a crazy can’t remember dream.
Yo driver! What’s up? It’s been a minute or two. Been out there gobbling up my share of the road, hope you’ve been getting yours too. What a season this has been so far! Very good to meet so many new drivers out there, and thanks for checking out the site! Still just getting started with more exciting things on the way.
I’ve heard rumors the website design team has been working tirelessly to bring some unusual tales to the site, with more on the way. Can’t wait to check those out! In the meantime, I thought we could cover some areas of interest I’ve encountered out there, that might help some of the newest members of our growing community.
Details
Not to worry, this is just some basic info. Pretty much unrelated to that snazzy title above, and more about routes and route choices. It’s startling to hear how many drivers trust the apps to pick their route. The apps do a good job creating a possible route. One possible route. The key thing to keep in mind, is that it’s a suggestion.
Are you the captain of your ride? Then you are in charge of route selection. Your local knowledge of traffic lights, road closures, traffic delays, and things like school zones are the best tools to use when making that selection. Get into the habit of scanning for alternate routes.
They are there, sometimes marked in some way by the apps’ native mapping system. A shaded line marking the alternate route is the most common method the apps use. The mapping system is also dynamic and updates as you travel the route. Yo driver, keep those eyes on that road.
I saved a couple of examples from two different views using one of the top delivery apps. You can see each has a different flavor to their style. One has that alternate route suggestion thing going on, while the other leaves it up to the driver, who then decides which option best suits the current circumstances.
Arrival
Another area of interest is being tracked as you decide alternate routes. Just about every driver has gotten the text or call wondering why the driver selected that road or went over here instead of over there. I know, feels kind of spooky, but that’s just your friend at the end making sure you got them, because you didn’t follow the suggested route.
Making good assurances and staying focused on your ‘out of the box’ thinking, will solve those moments with bewildered drop off clients. But what about the app, and all those bells and whistles? I mean, all those metrics, gauging and grading your every action. The top concern should always be that arrival time with the client.
Selecting the most efficient route guaranties an acceptable or improved arrival time. And this is always good for the overall earnings outlook. Time to hop to it driver, zoom zoom!
