Free parking and parking tickets, which is best?
Welcome back, and to the first timers, welcome. This site is all about driving and also driving for pay. Additionally, there are insights for every phase of a delivery. From accepting an offer, to the completion of the delivery.
All of the articles, contain at least one thought, on a delivery. Furthermore, it is a process that is the same, from job to job. It’s the details that do all the changing.
Among those details is one that is overlooked, until it’s staring the courier in the windshield.
Parking the ride, while the courier steps inside.
It may seem like a small problem, compared to the other details, the courier needs to pay attention to. It isn’t a small problem, and can quickly turn into a costly situation, if done incorrectly.
Parking Tickets
Parking the ride, is as important as any step, in a delivery. Furthermore, a standard delivery usually ends up in a driveway at a residential location. Parking in this scenario is only as difficult as the driveway.
What about deliveries that don’t have driveways? For example, inner city deliveries to high rise apartment buildings, or office buildings? Is there a solution that works for every delivery?
The short answer is no. But that doesn’t mean it’s a no go, it just means there will be some hunting and walking.
Crew drivers have an additional feature that can sometimes help, with stashing the ride, while the courier is inside. This feature is a car topper that identifies the vehicle as a delivery vehicle.
It does not give the courier free reign to park wherever they choose, but identifies the vehicle, as a work vehicle. This is useful in times of quick dropoffs, where the courier meets the customer in the parking lot, or at the door of a facility.
Free Parking
The ride is only parked in front for a couple of minutes and it’s easy to tell why it’s there. (The topper) However, the topper will not prevent a parking ticket for illegal parking. It also will not prevent a boot or a tow for illegal parking.
Solo couriers with no identifying features on the ride must use caution and patience when looking for a place to stash the ride. Sometimes there is no other choice, than to take a walk.
As long as the ride is safe, and in no danger of a tow or a ticket, free parking is the way to go. Even when it means there will be a ways to go. Stay safe out there.
