Howdy driver, and welcome back. I could not find the end of that road today, but I had tons of fun searching for it! The hunt will continue. Even now I’m ready, chomping at the bit, hungry for the horizon. Whoa, hold on there. Got to catch some down time, maxed out payable time on the road today. Say what? Didn’t see that one coming. Who ever heard of too much time on the road? Must be that funky algorithm again. Looks like we’re going far and away – the apps want to play.
So, it’s fun to mess around with those algorithms. They sure do plenty of messing around on drivers! Whew, I’m tickled any time I can escape the tricky part of a delivery app, and succeed anyway. It’s a virtual slugfest, the app wants to make money, I want to make money, the app usually has the better hand, and app’s got most of the cards. It’s cool though driver, we only need two.
There’s a lot going on when you fire up that algorithm. First thing, smile!, you’re being tracked. Pretty closely too, can you feel those app eyes on you? I know from my experiences, it’s within a couple of feet, say, the distance between two people on opposite sides of a door. Maybe closer. When you move, app knows. With this in mind, it’s important to know the majority of runs that flash up on your screen, come only when you’re moving. Coincidence? Anything’s possible, but let’s take a pause when we’re rolling heavy in speed on those interstates.
That’s one of the cards we need, pause it. There’s no safety in perusing potential deliveries at 75 mph, driver. App should know better, but at 75 mph, and with just seconds to decide, we’re less likely to notice all the not so great parts of that offer. If you’re already on a run, you’re mostly good, app’s got you for now. I personally set app free, only when I’m in circuit mode, in the zone I’ve chosen for the next few hours. Most offers come when you’re moving, be moving in your zone, isolate the app when you’re hauling ass.
The second card is a general catch all formula to keep you rolling out there, driver. One of the apps changed some things around with far and away deliveries. Those are the ones to be careful with, not only are they cost intensive, they also can remove you from your zone, causing missed opportunities in rush times. To make some of these far and away runs more appealing, the app, ‘adjusts’ shorter run offers. What the what? I was thinking the same thing, driver, does that mean tips get adjusted too?
No need to panic, tips are still driver property, if there is one. The app can adjust the base pay it offers, the guaranteed payout. Whatever the offer, the main focus should be on the mileage distance, and the compensation. Look to keep your pay at a minimum of a dollar per mile. Anything more is great! Yes, there’s the time pressure, you get 45 seconds to decide. Try focusing on just the mileage and guarantee, remember, 1$ per mile. This formula will help make tours, not super profitable, but viable. Also keeps app guessing, a little, until that funky algorithm gets loose. Watch it driver, that app’s looking at you!
There’s a lot to go with this topic, and I hope to cross reference some more app traits in the future. Hospitals, gated communities, coded elevators, vip elevators, and more will be ready soon. I’m firing up Sunshine, by Nazareth, and thinking of someone so beautiful. Best way to start any road day! Stay safe out there driver, that wraps this.
