Extreme delivery, what it looks like and how to deliver it
Deliveries are the lifeline of a courier. The goal of a courier, is to complete a delivery of something. The delivery cargo can be anything from papers to hot fresh food. The solo courier sees a wide variety of delivery types, while the crew courier has a more static scenario.
With this in mind it might seem the crew courier work is predictable. In fact, it is for the most part. Believe it or not that is a positive thing. Furthermore, predictable rushes become the norm when the courier is on a crew.
Indeed, there is invaluable experience in running crew deliveries. Furthermore it isn’t always predictable. One advantage to crew deliveries is the extreme delivery. It does exist, and can be a prosperous event. Additionally it is in connection with, and for a merchant. This is a bonus.
Extreme Delivery
Extreme delivery can take on many forms. One of them is a catering delivery. And another type of extreme delivery, is the large party delivery. There are several examples. However, a pizza example will do a good job detailing an extreme delivery.
In this example 60 pizzas, and 12 2 litre drinks are the cargo. As well as the goal. Furthermore the cargo needs to be fresh and hot upon arrival. Additionally, it is during a major rush window. The rush. In short, merchant staff will be under great pressure.
Obviously, the courier isn’t going to be able to wait for all the cargo to be ready at the same time. 60 pizzas in many stacks, take up a good bit of space. Furthermore, those first pizzas out of the oven have already begun to cool. Cool fast.
At this time the courier can begin the loading process. A, best practice, is the drinks and accessories first. Thus they are less likely to be forgotten later. Then the first of the pizzas can be loaded. In this example, 4 pizzas will fit in one delivery heat bag. That means a minimum of 15 heat bags in the ride.
Deliver It
Experienced couriers can carry 3 fully loaded pizza bags at any one time. (And still navigate doors and stairwells safely) Moreover, a conveyor pizza oven, on full tilt, can pop out a fully cooked pizza in about 6 minutes.
Without a doubt, the courier will need some assistance at the drop-off location. Having a small cart, or other utility carrier, is another best practice. This is one possible process for extreme deliveries. Furthermore, this type of delivery, can have a positive impact on the courier’s earnings. (It was for a high school football team) Stay safe out there.
