Eight Minutes of Free Time
If having five minutes to spare is a special occasion then eight minutes must be a seriously special occasion. Actually it is, just got one of those the other day. While it was nice to have the eight minute break, the delay on the stack was not.
A stack delay can have unwanted side effects. Cold things warm and warm things cool, just to name a couple. Delays are a typical courier job condition, and the best couriers know how to take advantage of disadvantages.
This can take different forms, but comes to the same idea of making the best out of the bad.
Eight minutes of free time doesn’t sound like much, but it’s strangely plentiful when it happens in the middle of a rush. The seconds tick by. Slowly. Things that are cold begin to warm, things that are warm begin to cool. And there’s still seven minutes and 21 seconds of free time left.
Eight minutes
This scenario is the consequence of not getting the PIN, from a PIN delivery. More detailed information on the PIN delivery can be found in this link.
It is possible to finish the delivery without the PIN, but completing it is not, without an eight minute delay. The delay is an acceptable amount of time to wait for the discovery of the PIN.
The timer is started upon contact at the drop off location. It’s possible to enter the PIN at any time, if the courier has the PIN. Five minutes and 31 seconds of free time left.
Taking some of the eight minutes free time window, to catch up on vehicle maintenance, wasn’t practical at the time. Instead, another topic came to mind that can be covered quickly in the four minutes and 45 seconds remaining.
There are times when finding that particular apartment can be difficult and confusing. Apartment complexes are complex, and in this link, there is another article to expand on that topic.

An apartment complex, can be a complex delivery. Furthermore, it can carry all the way to the possible door, of the apartment being sought. Occasionally the group of apartments will all have hidden numbers. This happens sometimes because of door decorations, like in the pic below.
With the apartment number concealed, it’s not possible to confirm the apartment number. If the surrounding doors have visible numbers, confirmation is easier.
When all the doors are decorated and no process of elimination can take place, the courier has to gently move the decoration for visual confirmation. The alternative is to contact the customer for confirmation.
And ding, time is up, delivery is now complete and it’s time to go. Stay safe out there.
