Doublechecking those items, the best way to stay ahead
As the summer season begins to wind down, delivery rush windows, are shifting as well. The sunset is earlier every day and the evening rush is becoming more of a split routine.
Similarly, the evening rush window has begun to divide between early and late. As the seasons begin to change, it will impact the weekend rushes.
Furthermore, another season is about to kick off. Experienced couriers know what this means for Saturday deliveries. It isn’t uncommon to have stacks on every run during the Saturday football rush.
With this much activity on each and every delivery it isn’t hard to miss a detail, or two. Missed details can be costly in lost time. For example, the courier missed the detail, of an additional drink.
Doublechecking
The time it takes the courier to backtrack and retrieve missed cargo, is lost time. If the courier discovers the missing cargo, after arrival at the dropoff location, it’s an even tougher call.
So, it is very important to double check the items on the details screen. However, there are some details about the details that matter too. For example, most merchants seal cargo in some form of protective bag or box. It is sealed and tamper proof for a reason. Couriers do not open packages.
Items that are entrees or appetizers and sauces or rolls or a dessert, are all inside the sealed cargo container. Those types of items are not for the courier to watch for, it’s the extras like sodas or personal salads or bags of chips. Anything that is also on the items, or details, screen.
Staying Ahead
In my experience, it is a drink, most of the time. Occasionally it is something from the merchant kitchen, in that scenario there may be additional charges.
And still other times, it might be something from the lobby of the merchant. Things like extra napkins and straws, or plastic cutlery.
Whatever the details, doublechecking those items, is the best way to stay ahead. Furthermore, checking the items and details before the pickup, and once again at the pickup, is a best practice. Stay safe out there.
