    Delivery toggling for improved earnings

    Delivery toggling for improved earnings

A long day of running deliveries is a bonus to the courier’s savings account. It is also a bonus to the various merchants using a delivery app. The solo courier will encounter the rush at least twice in a full day’s worth of deliveries.

With this in mind it’s easy to see how, long days, can lead to prosperity. This is also true for the courier driving for a brand or merchant. The long hours are where the maximum earnings can be found.

Longer hours are the way to increase earnings. Therefore, it’s possible to maximize road time for the best possible use of resources. For example, backtracking. A time consuming practice. Not only does backtracking cost time, but also additional resources.

    Delivery Toggling

This is a practice to avoid during a rush. One of the first things a crew courier learns is which deliveries are worth stacking with other deliveries. Furthermore, some deliveries are logistically suited to be combined and some are not.

Likewise, with a delivery app. An algorithm and some statistical analysis, doesn’t take the place of common sense. The courier is responsible for some of that. Toggling between deliveries is one way the courier can do this.

For the intent of this article, toggling between deliveries is changing the drop-off order of a stack. Respectively. There are times when this option is important to the courier. Indeed, it is important to the success of the delivery as well.

For example, the courier has a stack. The app will continue a linear strategy, on the order of the drop-offs. This works, and keeps the order of things in check. Furthermore the app doesn’t mind if the courier passes by one drop-off location, on the way to the other.

Additionally the app is not going to wink at the courier. Although, it might be worth it to add that to the algorithm. Trying to avoid backtracking is the essence of a good stack. Some apps have a system for toggling between deliveries in a stack. Some do not. More on this in the next article. Stay safe out there.
