Delivery proof double down for better courier ratings

Delivery proof double down for better courier ratings

Ever had one of those moments when things didn’t feel quite right? Not like uncomfortable shoes, or a shopping cart with a loud squeaky wheel. But more like something happened. And then it went by so fast, it went undetected. If so, check your wallet. Because it may have been a scam. Not every scam is detectable though. In fact, that’s one of a scam’s better attributes. It’s hard to detect.

With this in mind, a courier benefits from an alert mindset. Of course this is true while in traffic. However, there are other times a courier needs that alert mindset. Between the special instructions and the delivery notes, and then searching for the drop-off location, there are many things to monitor. Additionally, these details directly link to particular ratings in a delivery app. For example, consistent drop-off proof of delivery photos. Get ten in a row and the ratings are in great shape.

This is true of many different parts of the delivery experience. Another example is the accuracy steak. This one tracks how accurate the courier is on each pickup and subsequent drop-off. Get 100% accuracy to see a boost in the rating. This does mean remembering the drinks, and the additional condiments in the special notes. The ratings are everywhere, and cover just about everything.

    Delivery Proof Double Down

The ratings cover just about everything. And one of the more important ones is the completion rating. In fact, it’s so important, it’s like a founding member of the ratings. The completion rating is also a tell all about the kind of courier the customer pulled from the queue. A courier with a one hundred percent completion rating is a preferred courier for obvious reasons. Therefore, a completion rating is a fundamental rating. If one must get a rating, this is a useful one.

    proof

All that buildup has a point. A courier has to work diligently to maintain a perfect completion rating. The slightest snafu, or mistake, can alter a rating and change just about everything. That’s a smidge heavy on the drama but a courier with a high completion rating has to earn it. It means the courier completed every delivery accepted. And there’s proof. Furthermore it’s what the picture is for at the drop-off location.

Every leave at the door delivery, gets a photo as proof of delivery. This happens in-app. Therefore, the courier doesn’t have a copy of the picture. The photo happens in-app as proof of where the delivery items ended up in the drop-off. It’s an effective way to show proof of delivery. Unless someone intercepts the drop-off. Sometimes this is a normal occurrence. Other times, not so much.

    Better Courier Ratings

It’s possible that quick interception, was just as much distraction. A distraction meant to get around the proof of delivery photo. There may be more than one reason why this technique is a preference. However, most often the main reason seems to be getting a free meal. When the courier doesn’t send the photo proving the delivery completion, it’s possible for the customer to dispute that the delivery even happened.

Furthermore, in the Doordash app the courier can select the non photo proof option. The option is: Handed the order directly to the customer. When the courier selects this option, the delivery is marked as complete. In the app. Additionally the courier knows the delivery went to the customer. However, some unscrupulous app users will try to deny the delivery took place.

The customer asked for a leave at the door delivery, and there is no proof it was left at the door. Which ultimately means the delivery disappeared between the pickup location and the drop-off. This leaves only one entity at fault. You know who. No picture was sent in as proof. However, this process now has a better catch all, in place.

    Delivery Proof

Now, the app is taking an additional step to further secure the courier’s completion rating. For example, when the courier marks the delivery as, “handed delivery to the customer”, the app asks for some photo evidence anyway. Every courier knows that it only takes seconds for the delivery customer to shut the front door. Therefore proof of delivery is just proof of the front door. However, that will work. Or a picture of the mailbox.

A picture of the front of the house can also work. The idea is proximity. In other words the courier sent a picture of the front door or mailbox. What courier is going to arrive at the drop-off location, and take a picture, and not complete the delivery? The answer is, not too many. Therefore, the photo evidence is a benefit to the courier, and helps protect the completion rating. Additionally, it benefits the courier with another layer of protection. Stay safe out there.
