Delivery perks and the out of the blue flat tire
Running deliveries for any length of time guarantees a courier will see strange things. Or stranger than normal things. It could be an impossibly bizarre wreck or a strange feature on a private dwelling.
In fact there might be a private dwelling on a strange feature in some cases. Sometimes it’s the luck of the draw, as to how unusual a delivery may be. Other times there are surprises that don’t have negative consequences, and those are often the best perks.
Delivery Perks
With this in mind, there are still merchants that treat the courier to a refreshing beverage. This is an exciting time for a courier. Nothing says refreshing like a cold Coca cola over ice. Particularly on those hotter than average days.
There can be perks even when the days are cold and wintry. For example, a complimentary fresh hot pack of potato wedge fries. There are very few merchants that treat the courier to such a delicious hot snack. That is why it is a perk. The courier may decide a lower than average offer is worth it, for the bonus quick snack. I know I have. More than once.
Then there are the special parking places set aside for the carryout courier or customer. Those are located close to the entrances in most cases. This is helpful when there is a large amount of cargo to load. Furthermore, they began popping up when deliveries and carryout were the norm for merchants.
These special parking spots for the couriers are a perk and assist the courier greatly when they are available. FYI, courier, they are not always available. Just like an open tire service center at one in the morning. It’s a rarity to find one open.
Out of the blue
In the dark. That’s where bad things happen to the ride. Usually it’s one of the tires that takes it. Everything seems fine after the plunge into the darkness of an outlying neighborhood. The return trip to the starting zone is under way and there might be just enough time to catch another run before the bell tolls… and then the fwap fwap sound begins.
The first thought is always, “That can’t be my tire..” and then it is always your tire. If there’s a spare, great. If not, limp to the light. Running deliveries for any length of time, will get the stranger than normal things happening on the regular. The delivery perks are a bonus. Stay safe out there.
