Delivery notes and the pizza killer, how to finish drop-offs
The drop-off of a delivery is cause for celebration. The courier has completed another job. Which should mean another happy customer, is enjoying hot fresh food. If there is a rush, the courier may be on the way to the next delivery already.
With this in mind, it is a good thing the courier checked those delivery notes. After all, it’s easy to fall into a routine with a series of deliveries. In fact it is possible to adjust the budget, make a grocery list and decide what’s for dinner all while completing a delivery.
Delivery notes
We need only check the app, and see if it is a hand it to me order, or not, and go from there. This is when the delivery note becomes apparent. Or not. In this scenario, an additional tip hangs in the balance. What will the courier do? Will the courier check to see if there is a delivery note?
The courier rang the doorbell, then knocked for good measure. The sleeping kids woke up, and the secret treat from the burger joint is now a bust. By the time the parent gets the kids back to sleep, the secret burger with the secret sauce, will be cold.
Meanwhile, in the delivery notes, the drop-off location asked for no knocking or doorbell. In fact, there is also a note about sleeping kids. Now the extra knocking doesn’t seem as considerate. Also it looks like that additional tip, went the way of the wind.
All of this is easily avoidable. In fact, by making the delivery notes a part of the routine, a courier ensures the notes will be seen. Furthermore, it is true that there are usually no additional notes. However, that is no excuse for complacency. It only takes one unprofessional move to cast a shadow on the job.
Pizza Killer
Speaking of unprofessional moves, being a pizza killer is top among them. Anyone who has ever eaten pizza from a delivery box knows which end is up. Edgewise is not it. As the lid is opened, the pizza lays flat in the box. It is cut into slices. Additionally, each slice is waiting to be freed from the box, and consumed.
If the box is turned on its edge (while the pizza is hot, especially) it will create a hot, steaming pile of…pizza goo. In this state it can no longer be considered a dang pizza. The pizza always remains flat. Ask any pizza delivery driver.
Cargo care and responsibility are important. It’s at least half the job. With this in mind, keeping cargo positioned appropriately, is one of the traits of a professional courier. Handling all cargo with care is always the top priority. Stay safe out there.
