Delivery notes and pins, how to use them efficiently
It’s possible to deliver to the same location more than once. In fact it’s possible to deliver to the same location on a regular basis. Delivery has become more than just a convenience. It has become a functional part of everyday life.
With this in mind the courier is now a common sight. Seen, more often than not, perched on a front porch. Waiting in anticipation of another successful completion. Furthermore, it is now a common sight to see hot fresh cargo waiting at the door, all alone.
Delivery notes and pins
I can feel that freezing and lonesome cargo shivering now. I even have pictures of it sitting there alone. However, this article isn’t about the state of cargo. Nor is it about the country of timely pick-ups. This one is about the delivery notes.
Every courier sees them. Many articles on this site refer to them as the details. Or delivery details. The delivery notes, are for the drop-off location, to arrange special things with the courier. The things could be anything from a special ‘leave it’ location to extra location details.
Furthermore there are times when GPS locations don’t match up. It is possible. Additionally, the pin on the map could be a block or more off. This is acceptable in daylight deliveries. However nighttime deliveries are a different story. A block away in the dark, is another universe. As has been the case, in every horror movie, ever.
With this being said it usually becomes obvious when the mailboxes run out, and a wooded field opens up where the drop-off is supposed to be. This is the most likely time that a pin or delivery note is off somehow.
Use them efficiently
The delivery note, and pin, are meant to help the courier find the location quick. When the location pin and delivery notes match, it’s a good thing. Occasionally, the delivery notes may be out of date. This can happen when a drop-off location changes address but forgets to update it in the delivery app.
The old notes, could lead anywhere, and often do. Therefore, if something feels a little off, why not give a call? If the location pin leads to a strange and dark location that looks nothing like 4321 Friendly St., it’s a good time for a text or a call. One particular detail that indicates a possible drop-off issue is a pin location in the middle of the road.
Another pin location detail, that indicates an issue, is a pin located far from the road. Many times this can mean there is a long driveway. Additionally, where the driveway starts becomes the mystery, in a nighttime delivery.
Most deliveries have the pin and delivery notes synced. Combined with the GPS and courier hustle, this makes for timely delivery completions. Stay safe out there.
