Couriers and the better safety practices
Safety is a top concern for couriers. In fact, it is a concern for couriers and merchants alike. Even delivery apps place emphasis on safety concerns. The better delivery apps have safety features woven into the app. Therefore, they are a benefit for the courier. On each delivery.
With this in mind, there isn’t a scenario where the courier is too safe. Safety checks and the special features of a delivery app, are par for the course. The safety of the courier is a priority. Furthermore, a delivery is a mystery experience, until complete.
This is one reason why it is a good idea to invest in personal safety. This isn’t a suggestion of which personal safety measures protect more. Nor is it a recommendation on which safety practices to adopt. Every courier is different. Therefore, the personal safety choices will also vary.
Couriers and the better safety practices
This article is the benchmark for safety practices. There are a few best practices that every courier can benefit from. Furthermore, they are readily available, and free. In fact, they can be part of a courier routine. One used on every delivery.
For example, there is almost never a reason to go into a personal dwelling on a delivery. Need more light for scanning ID? Stand in front of the ride with the headlights on. No need to go in the house. Additionally, if the courier is getting intense invitations into a private dwelling, the red flags should be heeded. Don’t go. Go the other way. To the ride.
One advantage a courier can use, is controlling the delivery. It can happen as fast or slow as the courier chooses. Likewise, it remains in the ride with the courier. While texting the drop-off. Or calling the drop-off. There is rarely a need for the courier to trek out into an unknown situation.
Road safety is also in the realm of best practices. Furthermore, the need for speed is understood. However, the local traffic laws are not as forgiving. Neither is steel on steel. A reduction in speed can be a lifesaver.
Safer completion
In fact this isn’t just about driving safely on the road. It is also staying focused when out of the ride and walking. Inner city deliveries require some foot work to get that completion. Staying alert and observing traffic conditions is a best practice. Attention to traffic signals and pedestrian signs is definitely safety oriented.
In fact, if it sounds like slowing down a little, and using observation skills, is the gist of this article, it is. The grand prize is a safer courier. And a safe delivery completion. Stay safe out there.
