Catching the big picture of the Red Herring delivery
The Red Herring delivery is not an imaginary delivery. It is also not a large art delivery. However it is a delivery. The courier that has done it knows all about it. Also it is impossible to be a courier, and miss the Red Herring delivery.
Finding the delivery is a process. It takes time. Some things can only come with time. This process is more streamlined if the courier has crew experience. The solo courier, is that much better, with crew experience.
The courier learns quickly with a crew. Furthermore, the competition is trial by fire, in most cases. With this in mind, the courier focuses on completions. As many as possible in the time allowed.

Within a crew, the courier never has to analyze an offer. The next up, is the job. Every time. A buildup in the queue that is dispersed in the order of readiness, benefits the crew. The next up is the next served. That good one, that is going to be ready after the three bad ones, is non existent.
On a crew, that good delivery will go to the fourth courier. The first courier will take the first of the bad deliveries. The whole crew knows the bad delivery will tip much less than the good delivery. The first courier will take the first bad delivery. The order will continue and repeat. Next time courier 1 may get the good delivery.
Every delivery is not a big payout. In fact, big payouts are rare. Consistency is the name of the game, in the delivery game. Similarly the crew experienced courier, has an advantage in a solo environment.
Not the cash advantage, the apps have helped to usher out the cash tip. There are occasional drop-off locations that still tip in cash, however they are extremely rare. Not only rare but also few and far between. Dinosaurs are more likely to be seen, than the cash tip.
Likewise, couriers that notice and use the number breakdown of expenses and cost versus earnings, will notice odd things. They are more evident at tax time. Strategies and ideas for getting through the taxing delivery will be in future articles. Stay safe out there.
