Cargo integrity and the quality of the pickup
It takes five minutes to complete a timely pickup. This is if everything runs smoothly. However, things don’t always run smoothly. When this happens the courier has a few options. There is always the unassign option. And then there are the follow through options. All of which make the delivery safer, and easier, when the going gets tough.
With this in mind, a pickup merchant knows the courier is en-route. Furthermore, a courier using a delivery app, is sometimes ahead of the pickup merchant. When this happens a delay begins. This delay can do more than slow the delivery. It can also wreak havoc with the courier’s ratings. The same ratings that determine how well the courier does in the app. Additionally, it costs the courier valuable time.

On a positive note, the delay can become useful. For example, the merchant’s delay is from an incomplete order. This means the order is still cooking. Therefore, the cargo integrity is in good shape. In other words, the hot fresh food will be hot and fresh when it’s ready. This means the drop-off location will still get a quality delivery. Provided the courier continues the hustle.
Cargo Integrity
Cargo integrity is more than just contending with a slowdown at the pick-up merchant. It’s about cargo care as well. Couriers deliver all kinds of cargo. From household supplies to pizza, the possibilities are almost endless. Therefore, the careful handling of the cargo is part of the job. It shouldn’t take reminders from an app to keep the pizza flat when carrying it.
Furthermore, heat bags are more than just a suggestion. They are standard equipment for the quality conscious courier. In fact, many pizza places offer complimentary pizza bags when available. There are also thermal bags for sale in most department stores. The difference it makes in keeping food at optimal temperatures is noticeable. The at home customer appreciates the heat. Hot and fresh means hot. And fresh.
Delivery hot bags are also great tools for keeping the cargo integrity in the packages. For instance, the way a merchant stacks entree’s in a sealed bag. This is a little known cargo integrity issue. Furthermore, it is also a rating that can impact a courier’s overall customer satisfaction rating. Two dinged ratings with one mishap. When using a heat bag to protect the cargo (hot fresh food) the food items in the package remain in pristine condition.
Quality of the Pickup
The quality in the pickup has a ripple effect on the entire delivery. The better the condition of the items the courier delivers, the better the possibility of a satisfied customer. A win win almost every time. Even at the last minute, right there at the door, cargo integrity matters.

Best practice tip: Leave at the door deliveries should be outside the range of an outward swinging storm door. If the at home customer will knock over the package of food when opening the door, it’s too close.
