Can the holiday delivery hurry actually improve earnings?
The holidays have arrived. They bring with them a change of seasons. For couriers, the holidays bring with them a change of pace. Furthermore, it’s a change of pace with a pesky time change. Therefore, the uptick in the pace, comes with a downturn of the lights. And that’s just for starters.
Holiday traffic happens just after the starters mentioned above. Holiday traffic is no laughing matter. For the courier. In fact, holiday traffic can be costly. Especially on an already delayed delivery. Every courier has to be concerned with delays. Even the smallest delay can set things back. Therefore most couriers may find themselves in a holiday delivery hurry mode.
With this in mind, can it really be a benefit for the courier, to be in a holiday hurry delivery mode? Or is the old saying, haste makes waste, closer to the mark? That is a good question. On the one hand, haste does make waste. However, being too cautious, can also cause mistakes. And mistakes are costly. Particularly for the courier wanting to conserve resources.
The Holiday Delivery Hurry
This can be confusing. Especially when the queue is running at full tilt. It’s not uncommon to get on a roll. If the demand is high enough, the courier can literally roll all night. This is what the holiday delivery hurry is about. The holidays are setting a pace. The courier is a part of that pace. In fact, the faster pace and increase in demand, is a bonus opportunity for the courier.
A faster pace, means the courier can complete more deliveries. Additionally, the faster pace means more stacked deliveries will be the norm. The stacked delivery comes in two ways. One is through an initial offering in the queue. The other is a stack after the fact. Which means a second delivery is offered, after the courier has accepted the first delivery.
(Pro Tip: Stacked offers can happen at any time. They are especially likely the closer the courier is to the second merchant. Or, if the courier will pass right by, the second merchant.)
As to whether the holiday delivery hurry actually improves earnings, or not, is mainly up to the courier. The quality of the hustle, is as important, as the hustle of the hustle. Delivery accuracy, and attention to detail, will still be important no matter the pace. If the courier can balance all that consistently, then improved earnings are absolutely possible. Stay safe out there.
