Better stack strategies for the new courier
In the course of running deliveries the courier will encounter times of extreme demand. Furthermore, those times of demand are bread and butter to the courier.
With each new offer, comes a new set of details, and the courier has another opportunity to increase earnings. This is especially true of multiple deliveries in single runs. Or stacks.
Stacks
Stacks are an excellent way for the courier to increase earnings with less resources expended. They are also an excellent addition to the courier’s runs. Because they can be an unexpected bonus.
However, not every stack adds up. There are times when a stack offer, isn’t a good one for the courier’s current circumstances. This is when the courier can decline the offer, it will then return to the queue.
The most common example of this is accepting an additional offer that has a longer wait time for pickup. Furthermore, if the courier has cargo waiting already, this can significantly delay the previous pickup’s dropoff. This is one example of a stack not adding up.
In fact there are some stack offers that are, for the sake of expediency, not the best opportunities. The courier must examine the offer carefully. Then decide if the conditions are good for a successful and timely completion.
New Courier
A stack offer happens at any point after a courier accepts an offer. Additionally, the offer that will become the stack, may not be with the same merchant. Double checking the additional mileage is important at this point.
Using the basic rule of thumb formula, which can be found in this link, is one way to gauge the stack delivery scenario. When matching the guaranteed payout, with the additional mileage, it’s much easier to analyze on the fly.
Monitoring stack locations closely, is a best practice. And a timesaver. Toggling between active deliveries is ideal for couriers, but not possible in every app. Stay safe out there.
