Better safety, security and seriously?
What a season this year has been! The amount of deliveries have been off the charts. Each rush has been extreme and we still have much time left this season!
Furthermore, the weather has been seasonable as well. This has a positive impact on the amount of available deliveries. It also means more people stay indoors and order delivery. They’re playing our song courier!
Safety
With this in mind it is a good time to think about better safety, and security. With regards to deliveries. Once upon a time it was a given that the pizza delivery driver would have some cash on hand. There might even be as much as fifty bucks. A few robberies later, it became important to keep the courier’s available cash to a minimum.
Likewise, credit and debit payments at the time of food purchase, keep the courier free of cash. Unless the courier has their own, which is strictly up to the courier. The bottom line is more safety, for the courier. Couriers with no cash, are less likely targets.
However, it is dangerous carrying around extremely appetizing hot fresh food. Suddenly every stranger with an appetite, tries to be the recipient! They are clever, stay alert courier!
Staying in well lit areas, and calling ahead, are also good ways to stay safe and secure. The security of the courier is paramount. It is something that the courier must also take responsibility for at all times.
Security
It’s simple, if it doesn’t feel right, don’t. There are a multitude of ways for the courier to contact a dropoff location for added security. The apps also have updated and improved safety measures. These not only help the courier stay safe but also provide options for ending a delivery should it become problematic. Again, if it doesn’t feel right, don’t.
This brings about the twenty dollar question. What about those personal favor requests? If the courier hasn’t gotten one yet, it’s only a matter of time. These are a prime example of touting safety measures.
The courier can do as they will. However, there is no recourse of action, should something go wrong. Additionally, the courier is banking trust on unknowns when going outside the app.
Seriously?
For example, the dropoff location messages and offers a hefty cash tip if the courier will grab a pack of cigarettes along the way. How exciting. All the courier has to do is stop everything, and front some cash, for a lethal product that has been requested by unverified persons. The fines for providing tobacco products, to underage people, are huge.
The same thing goes for alcohol, if they are not buying it through the app, there must be a reason why. Do yourself a favor courier, and stay out of it. Stay safe out there.
