Better delivery ratings and how to get them – properly
It’s that time again. Once more into the breach, of delivery ratings. Those pesky performance trackers. Not only are they a part of delivery apps, but also important enough to stymie better pay, if not monitored. Experienced couriers are very aware of delivery ratings. In fact, it is something even crew couriers deal with. However, there is a little more at stake, for the solo courier.
Delivery apps have different techniques for creating incentive to accept and complete deliveries. Some of this is done with pay. And likewise with ratings. It is often stated that higher ratings may create better queue offers. This is an incentive to maintain higher ratings. Furthermore, a better queue of deliveries, based on a higher courier rating, is the acceptance rating in action.
Supposedly, the higher the courier acceptance rating, the better the queue offer. Experienced crew couriers understand this a little differently, than the strictly solo courier. They also know what that statement means. Speaking of which, welcome to the new couriers who were also waiting for an extremely overdue pickup. The real time feedback was insightful. Thank you for joining the site, and comments and insights are welcome here.

With this in mind, getting the ratings to improve, is really a matter of work ethic, and deliberate effort. Spoofing the app is for cheaters. It is not possible to cheat one’s way into a solid work ethic. It requires work. Furthermore, it is very much a matter of which rating the courier is trying to improve. For example, the completion rating. Recently, one of the delivery apps changed its requirements for delivery completions. A courier must maintain a 90% completion rating or above, to remain active in the app.
This is a simple one to improve. Make the completions and don’t drop a delivery until the wait time has been excessive. The app will alert the courier when it is possible to release the delivery without impact to the rating. This is an improvement in the apps. And it helps with better delivery ratings.
The acceptance rating, is the one I hear the most complaints about. The most common one? Giving up on any supposed benefit. From the higher rating. What I hear most, is the giving up part. It is easy to understand why. For example, the fuel gauge is on dead E, and the next delivery offer is a very high mileage offer, for two bucks. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. Lose, lose offers happen frequently. Therefore the acceptance rating, is one of the most difficult to maintain, or improve.
Maintain the rating
The rating requires dynamic attention. The courier must dedicate a shift or two, to accepting some not so great offers. In this way, the delivery rating will gradually improve. Not stellar. But definitely possible. It is easier to maintain the rating than improve it. In my experience.
The customer satisfaction rating is all about customer service. The best of which, is the smile, and a professional demeanor. This includes dealing with merchants. And merchant staff. Professionalism goes a long way, in the heat of the delivery. Stay safe out there.
(Author’s note and disclaimer. The pictures in today’s article are my own. Taken while running my deliveries. It just so happens that one of my favorite vehicle manufacturers has a dealership in the middle of one of my chosen zones. It is my hope to bring more awareness to this excellent brand, and vehicle. Tesla. Furthermore, Tesla does not pay me, or my website. Additionally, I have not asked. The dealership, and brand, is a bonus to this area. In my opinion. Therefore, it is my honor to recommend Tesla. Especially the Cybertruck.)
