Basic number strategies for the new courier
Welcome. The fall season is well underway and the fall colors are popping this year! The deliveries are also popping, from sunup to well beyond sundown. Furthermore, there is an increase in the nighttime traffic hours.
All of this signals the start of a robust holiday season for the courier. Additionally there will be many numbers to keep track of, while off loading those deliveries.
For the new courier this can feel a little intimidating, and that is a natural reaction, to a busy first time at deliveries. Therefore, every little bit of help can help, and that is the hope with this info.
Basic Strategies
The numbers game is the reason for the season. Actually, that is just a saying. However, the numbers game as it applies to the courier, is important to the courier.
The numbers game is also a developed system and/ or, strategy, for the courier to get paid.
Couriers that drive with a crew, under a brand, have much of the numbers work already set. Things like a limited delivery range, and hourly pay, keep the crew driver covered, with regards to some expenses.
The courier that runs solo must have a system that allows for expenses and pay. Otherwise the courier will not be a courier for long. It is a possibility, and is achievable by using a rule of thumb approach.
Keeping in mind that most offers from any app come when the courier is in motion. And also that the offer is only available to view and accept for 45 seconds or less, it’s important for the courier to make a quick decision.
The New Courier
There is a mileage quote, on the offer screen, when viewed. This is also where the guaranteed payout is offered. The courier can compare these numbers on the fly.
When the courier is able, keeping the mileage and the payout synced at one dollar per mile, is a handy rule of thumb. Anything less should be a very short distance drive. Anything more is great, and preferred.
This formula is a recommendation and what works for one courier, may not work for another. Furthermore, the formula is my own observation, and one way to seek out earnings in the delivery apps. Stay safe out there.
