Back on the road again the great traffic delivery
There’s nothing like the smell of asphalt in the early morning sunshine. The day is new and the wheels are fresh. There is a wind that blows crisp and cool as the miles unfold. And the courier is back on the road again. A sense of the familiar takes hold, as the flow of traffic thickens. There we go.
Business as usual.
The corner of Main and 3rd still has that malfunctioning light. The stretch of Highway 64 that is under construction, is still under construction. Furthermore, for reasoning only a magic eight ball could understand, there is another lane closed. So we’re down to two lanes, only. I feel a traffic jam coming on. And not the good kind.
So there will be some wait time. It happens. That’s one reason heat bags are recommended equipment. Keeping the hot fresh food, hot and fresh, is part of the courier’s job. Furthermore, a combination of timeliness, and good road strategy is the key for a successful delivery completion.
Back on the Road Again
A successful delivery completion is the goal every time. Additionally, the success of a delivery can be measured in various ways. On time is one of them, and it’s also one of the most important ratings. It is also a dynamic rating. In other words, there is more than one on-time rating spot, in a single delivery.
Therefore a traffic delay can have a ripple effect. Not only can it delay an on time pickup, but also an on time drop-off. This means the courier is taking a chance on a ratings ding. Moreover it is from a traffic delay. Something that can, and should be avoided, when the circumstances are right.
It’s a matter of knowing an area. For example, the construction on Highway 64 from earlier. How many routes can be found that bypass that stretch of road? And how many of those are good all the time? How many are traffic traps? This type of strategic planning gets the courier out of traffic, and back on the road again.
The Great Traffic Delivery
The strategy of a delivery is just as important as the speed. In fact, at times they are one in the same. A courier’s zone is the playing field. And just like any sport, the better a courier knows the playing field, the greater the chance for a score! Or improved earnings. Respectively.
Therefore, the great traffic delivery can be just that. Great.
Great because it was timely in spite of the heavy traffic at the intersection of Main and 3rd Street. (That confounded light again) Additionally, the delivery can be great because the courier was early at every turn. And this, in turn, gets the courier on the road again. And with steadfast determination, moving toward the next delivery. Stay safe out there.
