Yo driver welcome back. It was really hopping out there today! Great day for road time, hope you got yours too! The cooler nights are setting in earlier, I can feel the road changing beneath my wheels as we roll into these early nights. It’s quite invigorating! Thank you for the feedback and suggestions from the drivers I met on the road today. And that brings us to app jam ups and quick fixes, here’s some useful info, driver.
Getting jammed up in an app is something we all experience at one time or another. You’re going along, tapping some buttons or checking accounts, and presto!, all jammed up. Often a quick reload, or, close and reopen, fixes things right up. Maybe sometimes it’s so dang bad you have to restart the whole device. If that doesn’t get it, there’s always the delete app, reinstall app scenario.
Any of these solutions could be the one that gets things up and running again, on most apps. Delivery apps are more basic and linear. They are set up to guarantee that certain things happen at certain times. One part must be completed before another is started. In some delivery apps, one part must be completed before any further information is given, making it impossible to proceed until the bell is rung.
Far Out Jam up
Delivery apps can also lead a driver way out into the out lands, where cell towers fear to tread, and then jam up real good. Remember, it’s not possible to proceed in the app, or towards any pay, without completing the task at hand.
It’s a jam up, because almost all of the app’s functions are directly connected to the precise GPS location. Try to mark the delivery as complete one block over, and forget about it, it ain’t happening. You got to go back one block to the precise location the app has, in order to proceed.
When it’s the coverage issue jamming the app, it typically clears, when back in cell tower range. If you cleared the run in the app before you left the precise GPS location, it will show as cleared when the signal refreshes. No need to go back. Don’t go back, a time loop will begin, and then the conundrums will follow. (wink) If the app was jammed while at the GPS location, an agent will be needed to clear it, after you get back in range. Sorry driver, smoke ’em if you got ’em, it’s gonna be a few minutes.
On the occasions where the drop off location is mapped to the center of an extremely busy highway, but the actual delivery is a block or two away. Hotels and sometimes hospitals, are a couple of examples. Simply drive past the GPS location, and mark the completion when passing the spot, no need to stop. Delivering the cargo first, then proceeding to the GPS location to clear, is a professional, ‘best practice’.
Keep an eye out
And to this one, which I have not encountered yet, but am extremely glad to have learned about. It deals with shop and deliver orders, which are growing in frequency. We touched a little on these types of deliveries here. This deals with checkout, and getting the merchant paid, so the delivery can proceed. If items are added to the order before the scanning of the bar code, the funds will be on the credit card before it’s used.
After the merchant scans the bar code, any items added will not be covered by the credit card. Merchant recommended ‘best practice’ – contact the customer directly, so they can adjust the order on their end. The funds will transfer quicker, allowing the delivery to proceed. Using an agent to resolve the jam up, adds an extra step, creating a huge delay.
