A Christmas Holiday and a unique delivery experience

A Christmas Holiday and a unique delivery experience

Merry Christmas! And wow did it ever get here fast! After all the hustle and bustle it will be nice to get a well earned break. The shops are all closed. The network shows are Christmas specials, and a nap looks like a great afternoon opportunity. So might as well dig in and get comfortable. Except for that one place. The one advertising about being open on Christmas day. Some brave employees banded together and showed up, and now they are also sending out deliveries.

Things just got interesting. If one place is open on the Christmas holiday there are likely more places working with at least minimum business hours. It may not be a typical day, but that doesn’t mean the work is any less valuable. Especially considering it is delivery on demand. Furthermore, the faraway delivery is a common request in the holiday queue. This is one of the reasons why holiday deliveries are so unique.

That’s one of the free perks of the delivery side hustle. The scenic routes. And the cool holiday hours. However, there are some areas that may not have active merchants on a holiday. Especially during the Christmas Holiday. Additionally, those Christmas holiday hours may only be a short few. Starting early is a best practice.

    A Christmas Holiday

In years past it was almost impossible to get a delivery on Christmas day. It was also unheard of to be working on Christmas day, unless it was a doctor or nurse, or a first responder. However, that began to change when the delivery app became more reliable. Furthermore, not all businesses are the same. Especially in the restaurant category.

With this in mind, it depends on the area. Some places on the map don’t have enough volume in deliveries to justify paying staff for a full day, plus holiday pay. Therefore, it’s a sure bet that those that do have the resources and business volume are going to be packed. For example, the restaurant is the only one open in a densely populated area. This means everyone just called them requesting a delivery. Or they used an app.

The line of waiting couriers will be long. Furthermore, it will be chaotic. However, most staff at a merchant that braves a potentially extremely busy holiday are aware of the workload. They will be ready. It just takes a little patience and a game or two on that new phone. Pretty nice! Merry Christmas! And stay safe out there.
